Shoe Lace-Tying Information for Grades 1 & 2

On Thursday (1/26), students in grades 1 and 2 will be learning how to tie their shoes in Physical Education class. The lessons will occur on day 4 for the next 4 weeks. Please encourage students to independently work on tying their own shoe laces. Please resist the temptation to tie the student's shoe laces and only offer guidance. The step-by-step instruction is attached for right-handed and left-handed shoe lace-tying. This information will be going home in the Wrap-Up. In addition, if a child does not have sneakers with laces, he/she will receive a shoe on cardstock paper with laces to take home and practice tying. We will have a Shoe-tying Olympics to culminate this challenge in March. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dorothy or myself. Kindergarten Report Cards Coming Home January 30th

Report cards for kindergarten students will be sent home on Monday, January 30. Several factors have lead to delaying their distribution. Our school year began late due to inclement weather. We recently had two delayed openings that impacted our morning students who were not able to attend school. This prevented teachers from completing assessments of student performance, necessary for report card completion. Finally, our school system hopes to have a new reporting system for families. This system (Aspen) is used for students from grade one through grade twelve. It is not quite ready to accommodate our extensive kindergarten report cards. We expect to have them ready in time for January 30. Please speak to your child's teacher if you have any questions.

Special Person's Breakfast February 7th
